Looking to have fun AND help someone in need? Family PASS is looking for players and sponsors for its annual Fall Golf Benefit
-- it's an afternoon of fun, prizes, and dinner at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton. This annual event raises critical funds for families in Fairfax County facing eviction. Last year, over 5,000 Fairfax households, primarily low income workers with little or no job benefits, sought help in avoiding eviction. Lost wages due to illness, or a broken car -- that's all it takes for a family to become homeless. Family PASS spends about $4500 per family for one time rental assistance plus education and job skills training support to help these families out of financial crisis. Families that do become homeless cost the county about $46,000 a year.
