DESCRIPTION:Flowers\, gardens\, music & more blossom \n\nat annual Walk on the Hill & Green Expo\n\n \n\nFor the 44th year\, residents of Vienna's Windover Heights Historic District will open their yards and gardens in a welcome to spring for the public to enjoy. The annual Walk on the Hill\, perhaps Vienna's loveliest event\, will take place from 2-5 p.m. Sunday\, April 29. This event is rain or shine.\n\n \n\n"This is an opportunity to share the ambience of this unique part of Town\," says Councilmember Carey Sienicki\, who helps organize the event. "The long-time success of this event is truly a community effort and a wonderful start to the spring." She notes that the event is an annual favorite of Town residents as well as out-of-town visitors.\n\n \n\nIn addition to strolling through lovely gardens\, participants can:\n\n enjoy musical performances throughout the afternoon\n take in the Ayr Hill Garden Club's Bringing Nature to Your Home small standard flower show (at 307 Windover Aveune)\n view native plant areas (at Salisbury Springs and Green Hedges School)\n take an architectural and historical tour\n nibble on cookies and other refreshments (at 277 Windover Avenue). \n\n \n\nIn addition\, the Community Enhancement Commission's Green Expo will offer displays and information about achieving a greener lifestyle\, including details about the 2018 Solarize NOVA program. And Vienna Arts Society artists will set up easels throughout the area as they work to capture the district's natural beauty on canvas.\n\n \n\nTo ensure pedestrian safety during the event\, many roads in the Windover Heights district will be closed to vehicular traffic that afternoon. Parking is available at Green Hedges School\, 415 Windover Avenue NW.\n\n \n\nThe Green Hedges School Jazz Ensemble will perform at 2 p.m. and the Vienna Community Band will perform at 3 p.m. at 288 Windover Avenue. Hickory Grove Band will play throughout the afternoon at the Marcey Log Cabin\, 223 Walnut Lane.\n\n \n\nWalk on the Hill is co-sponsored by Windover Heights Historic District residents\, Historic Vienna Inc.\, and the Town of Vienna.
