Live more (energy) efficiently with these tips
In celebration of Energy Efficiency Day, the Town of Vienna Community Enhancement Commission (CEC) will host presentations on easy-to-adopt strategies for making your home or business more energy efficient. The forum will take place 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday, October 5, in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 127 Center Street S.
“Very interesting technology is available, for free on loan, from the Fairfax libraries,” says CEC Chairperson Susan Stillman. “This technology allows you, using your smart phone, to find leaks in your home that can make you feel uncomfortable and cost you money. We’ll show a video that demonstrates this thermal-imaging technology at the forum.”
In addition, tips and information will be provided by professional energy auditor Ryan Van Patten with the Local Energy Alliance Program and Peter Soyka, of the Sustainability Guys and a published expert on energy efficiency.
LED light bulbs will be given to several lucky attendees. This event is free and open to the public.
“I think that folks will find this conversation very worthwhile,” says Stillman. “By undertaking an energy assessment or adopting a couple of relatively simple strategies, you can make your home or business more comfortable and less expensive to operate. Winter’s just around the corner, so why not plan to make yours comfortable and cozy?”
