Tapping your toes, singing along, maybe even getting up to dance as you listen to your favorite kind of music while sitting outdoors on a beautiful summer night with family and friends. Well, that’s priceless. Doing all of that on the Vienna Town Green this summer – that’s FREE!
The Town of Vienna will present 17 free musical performances through its 2016 Summer on the Green concert series. With performances by local bands specializing in blues, rock, folk, beach, country, bluegrass, jazz, and swing, your favorite kind of music is almost certainly represented.
The concert series kicks off Friday, May 20, with a 6:30 p.m. performance by Sarah Bennett Swanner. A local, soulful blues favorite, Swanner is often compared to Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge, Jewel, and Jennifer Nettles.
As part of this Summer on the Green kick-off concert, the Town of Vienna will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the community center with displays and information about the current renovation project as well as free cake while supplies last.
Bring chairs, blankets, a picnic, friends and neighbors, and your dancing shoes, but no alcohol or pets please. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. Concerts are generally rain or shine, but may be canceled due to severe weather conditions. Call 703-255-7842 to check concert status in case of inclement weather.
