About Us

Commonwealth Home Design is an award-winning full-service design build construction company established in 1986. Owners Kelvin Pierce (Engineer) and Susan Pierce (Architect) are Virginia Tech grads and are active in the community. Commonwealth is one of a very few Architect-Owned design/build construction companies in the area, and employs professional design staff, including kitchen and bath designers. On-staff project craftsmen manage all on-site construction work. Commonwealth has garnered numerous awards in its 35+ year year history and is annually recognized on both Qualified Remodeler Magazine's Top 500 list, and Remodeling Magazine's 550 nationwide list. Kelvin is a Vienna Rotary's past president, and Rotary Foundation past president of 6 years. Susan established Days for Girls, NoVA, a non-profit that supplies reusable feminine hygiene kits to third world nations. Kelvin established and runs Divine Child Foundation www.divinechildfoundation.org which runs 5 orphanages in the country of Republic of Georgia, from where the couple's two children are adopted.
