Join us for a community meeting to hear the results from our Parks & Recreation Master Plan survey and provide feedback on how we fund our future Parks and Recreation projects. Let's build the future together!  

The Town of Vienna Department Parks and Recreation is currently developing a Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Our Plan to Play, to create a shared vision for a safe, accessible, equitable, healthy, sustainable, and community-centered parks and recreation experience in Vienna. 

Our Plan to Play will emphasize the strengths of our community, identify missing needs, and define a multi-year vision to guide the maintenance, operation, and future opportunities for the Town's parks, trails, and recreational facilities and programming.  

Project Overview 

A parks master plan is a strategic, comprehensive document that outlines the long-term vision, goals, and objectives for the development, enhancement, and management of parks, open spaces, and recreational facilities within a community. It serves as a roadmap for decision-making, resource allocation, and future development efforts to ensure that the community's recreational needs are met and that the parks system is sustainable and accessible for all residents. 

A typical parks and recreation master plan includes the following: 

Engaging with the community to understand current and future recreational needs 

Establishing long-range vision and goals 

Developing strategies to address gaps between the current system and future vision
