Unearthing Vienna's Past - Presentation on Recent Archaeological Discoveries sponsored by Historic Vienna, Inc.
Archaeologists Lyle Torp and Matthew Palus with The Ottery Group will share their finds from work conducted in March on the property of Vienna’s Freeman Store and Museum. https://historicviennainc.org/?s=ottery
The Freeman Store and Museum was built in 1859. Throughout Vienna’s history the Freeman Store has been a store, home, train depot, hotel, hospital, officers’ quarters, fire department and historic site. It also served a post office. During the Civil War, both Union and Confederate troops occupied it. The building is on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
