We are a small but mighty staff, with a dedicated board of directors, and over 200 volunteers who help us get the job done!
      
    Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage and enhance SCNOVA’s existing volunteer programs and develop new volunteer opportunities, in collaboration with the staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors.
    • Create and maintain practices to recruit, attract, and train potential volunteers.
    • Maintain an effective system of communication with volunteers, including regular meetings and training sessions. Update volunteer interactions and program records in the management system/CRM.
    • Serve as the daily transportation lead. This program requires management of office volunteers, driver volunteers (who self-select rides), participants, and general public inquiries. Ensures data/reporting accuracy.
    • Represent Shepherd’s Center to various sponsoring organizations, groups, government agencies, civic organizations, and similar groups. When appropriate, recruit volunteer leaders to represent SCNOVA in the community.
    • Collaborate with staff to ensure cross-promotion and support of programs and organizational goals, including social media campaigns. Organize and participate in any mail-outs with the Communications Manager and volunteers.
    • Provide vendor and program management, including invoicing, budgeting, bill pay, and reporting.
    • Ensure that services are carried out in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and are based on the highest ethical standards of conduct, including maintaining client confidentiality.

    Location, Schedule, and Compensation: This is a full-time position, offering compensation of $23-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience. Conveniently located in Vienna, Virginia, this position requires the employee to be in the office, with one work-from-home day. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, some events may require evening or weekend attendance. This position is at-will with no health benefits. Offering 401k with employer contribution; 11 paid holidays, plus PTO.
     
    Requirements: 3+ years’ experience in the nonprofit or related professional environment with knowledge of volunteer management, best practices, systems, and procedures. Fluency in MS Office is a must, with the aptitude to quickly learn new technology platforms. Requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
